Description

Thelocactus macdowellii is a small to medium-sized cactus native to Mexico. It has a globular to short cylindrical body with well-defined tubercles and prominent areoles bearing stout, curved spines. The spines are white. In spring and early summer, it produces attractive pink to magenta flowers near the apex. It is native to northeastern Coahuila, Mexico.

This species prefers bright light, but older plants tolerate direct sun, also. Needs: well-draining mineral substrate, moderate watering, and a cool, dry winter rest.
