Description
Echinopsis subdenudata f. “Fuzzy Navel” is a small, globose cactus with a slightly depressed apex, notable for its soft, woolly areoles forming a characteristic “fuzzy” crown. The epidermis shows a distinct pinkish to grey-pink tone, especially under strong light or cooler conditions. The stem is divided into 8–12 low, rounded ribs with shallow furrows. Spines are extremely short or nearly absent, giving the plant a smooth appearance.
Large, showy, funnel-shaped flowers are produced from the apex, usually pure white, sometimes with a faint greenish tint on the outer tepals. Flowers open at night and are fragrant. Flowering occurs in late spring to summer. This form prefers a well-drained, mineral substrate, regular but careful watering during the growing season, and a dry winter rest. Ideal for pot culture and popular among collectors for its unusual epidermal coloration.
