Description
Echinopsis subdenudata is a small, globose cactus with a slightly depressed apex, notable for its soft, areoles with very small spines or without spines. The epidermis shows from clear green to grey, especially under strong light or cooler conditions. The stem is divided into 8–12 low, rounded ribs with shallow furrows.
Large, showy, funnel-shaped flowers are produced from the apex, usually pure white, sometimes with a faint greenish tint on the outer tepals. Flowers open at night and are fragrant. Flowering occurs in late spring to summer. This form prefers a well-drained, mineral substrate, regular but careful watering during the growing season, and a dry winter rest. Ideal for pot culture and popular among collectors for its unusual epidermal coloration.
