Description
Coryphantha andreae f. proliferata (monstruosa) is a distinctive cactus form noted for its strong tendency to produce numerous offsets, forming dense clumps over time. The individual stems are globose to short-cylindrical and bear well-defined tubercles arranged in spirals, each with areoles carrying several radial spines and usually one central spine. Spines are stiff, pale to brownish, and moderately long. The plant flowers near the apex, producing yellow to yellow-green blossoms typical of the species. Compared to the normal form, f. proliferata is valued mainly for its clustering habit.
