Description

Leuchtenbergia principis is a unique cactus native to Mexico, characterized by long, triangular, leaf-like tubercles. The epidermis is bluish grey-green, and the plant is usually solitary with long papery spines at the tubercle tips. It produces large yellow, funnel-shaped flowers from late summer to autumn. It is native to central and northern Mexico.

This species prefers bright light, a very well-draining mineral substrat. It should be grown in a deep pot due to its long, taproot. Seedlings require more frequent watering than most other cacti, and a dry winter rest in cca 5-10°C.
