Description
Hamatocactus setispinus (syn. Ferocactus) is a small to medium globular cactus native to northern Mexico. It grows 5–15 cm tall and 6–12 cm wide, with pronounced ribs covered in dense clusters of fine, hooked spines. The spines are usually white to yellowish, giving a bristly texture. Its flowers are surprisingly large, reaching up to 6 cm across, bright yellow to golden, creating a striking contrast with the green body and dense spines.
This cactus thrives in full sun, well-draining soil, and minimal watering, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.
